ARC Review: Thrill of the Chase by Kathryn Nolan

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I had the opportunity to read this as an ARC through Entangled. Thrill of the Chase follows Harper (a reporter) and Eve (antiques salvager) as Harper tries to track down Monty Montana, a treasure hunter that has previously tried to find the Blackburn Diamonds, which was a bust. Monty and her wife Ruby had previously received a lot of difficult press and Monty has notoriously been out of the public eye for years.

This is an enemy to rivals love story but also layered with other stories across generations along with a treasure hunt actively occurring. While information about a current hunt is developing, we’re also uncovering the treasure of past events and information to lead the current hunt.

I found both Harper and Eve to be compelling main characters. The story kept me reading through to find out what happened next. The chapter titles were fantastic and sometimes made me cackle, depending on what was happening. I wish we could have seen a little more interaction of Harper and Eve pre-recognition of what roles they’d play in the current story, because I think it could have helped raise the stakes/tension even more, but I think their actions and motivations were believable and grounded in enough back story that they made sense. I loved the turning point and ending—it all seemed very fitting for the story that was set up and I really appreciated the message behind the book.

This was a great open door/spicy romance read in a couple of parts and was enjoyable from start to finish.
